Jump to Fly, NOT to fall
If you are wondering where the title of this blog came from...one day when I was at my lowest, I was surfing the web, and I happened across a quote that made me think about how I looked at life. The full quote is:
When you stand at the edge of a cliff, jump to fly, not to fall.
So many times I have wanted to give up, to quit, to lay it all down. If you have read my earliest posts or any of my poetry, you know what I mean. This quote reminded me that when things get their worst, when I am ready to throw in the towel, to literally walk up to a bridge and jump off - that I should jump. But I should jump and spread my wings and allow the wind to catch me, not to jump and fall mindlessly into the abyss, like a dummy thrown over the cliff in an older movie with no special effects.
The quote reminds me of a story I heard: When a storm comes, the turkey runs around and looks for somewhere to hide; it panics and gets scared. The eagle takes to the wind and soars, riding out the storm on its wings.
Jump to Fly. Not to fall.
