Learning to trust

Hear the prayers of your servant, O Lord Most High!
Teach me to be content
in the plans you have for me.
The dreams I have for my life
are just that - dreams.
Here today, gone tomorrow.
No one can say this is where I will go,
This is what I will do.
For no one knows the future.
And yet my heart yearns,
my heart aches for my dreams.
Tears fall down my face,
Day and I night I cry out to you,
seeking to understand Your plan.
Yet will I trust You, oh Lord, my God.

Sobs wrack my body,
as I watch my life crumble around me.
Friends deserted, family gone,
I am all alone, save You.
Night and day I cry out to You,
Save me, oh God my King,
teach me to trust You,
to trust the plan You have for me.
For You can change my heart,
fill me with peace,
teach me to be content in You.

Fears overwhelm,
tears runneth over.
Exhausted, I fall to the ground.
Silence surrounds,
I listen for your voice.
Bring comfort to your servant,
O Lord Most High.
My heart is yours,
to change, to mold, to refine.
Teach it to trust in You alone,
to know your ways and your words,
to listen for your voice,
to trust in the path You have laid before me.
Fill my heart with the peace that comes from knowing You.
