rescue
Your servant groans in the darkest of night
Sleep eludes and time passes slowly.
Where is the dawn,
the hope and joy of the morning?
Lord come swiftly and rescue your servant.
Agony and pain circle round
like vultures waiting for death.
Rejection, the only constant.
Each day a struggle to find purpose.
What is your plan for me, my God?
Hear me when I call out,
and answer your servant.
Your servant has been rejected so many times,
her heart is in tatters.
Pain overwhelms,
she cannot walk.
Over and over again,
your servant endures this torture.
She has lost hope
that there is joy for her in this life.
Peace that comes from knowing You
is her only comfort.
Like Job and the writer of Ecclesiastes,
to her everything under the sun is meaningless.
Lord hear now the cries of your servant.
Long ago all illusion of strength vanished.
Your servant is so weak and shattered,
her strength and survival is in You alone.
I have not the strength to press on,
I cannot stand on my own two feet.
You have carried me through such suffering,
only to find more agony.
Day and night,
tears fall from your servant's face,
as she calls out to You,
Begging for respite from the storm.
Come quickly, Mighty King,
and rescue your servant,
hide her in your heart,
and wrap your arms around her.
Comfort her with your presence,
that she might press on.
Ease the sting of rejection
from all who surround her.
Give her strength to stand once again,
and teach her to trust in your plan,
even when all has been lost
these many long years.
And if that is not your plan,
your servant prays that You could come soon,
and take her back to your house,
that she might dwell with You forever.
